El Salvador


Background: By 1880 coffee had become the maim export crop. Because of the high demand, the local government introduced tax breaks and removed export fees. El Salvador is classified as a SHG or Strictly High Grown and is also Rainforest Alliance Certified. To meet the RFA standard the coffee must be grown in a way that protects both the environment and the worker's rights.
